| The Ribeiro wines, with its established reputation and tradition, originate from an area of approximately 3.000 hecters, situated on the slopes where the rivers Miño, Avia and Arnoya meet, located in the west of the Province of Orense. |
| The geographical and climatic conditions of the area demand a great effort for its wine production, which can hardly be compared to any other crop in Spain. However, it is well worth the hard work to achieve this kind of wine, which rightly deserves its mythical and poetic characteristics. The Ribeiro wines, which are always received with great enthusiasm due to its traditional reputation, are young, slightly acidic, light wines and have a mixture of surprisingly delicious fruity and flowery bouquet. Where they are produced according to the local traditional varieties (Treixadura, Torrontés, Loureira, Albariño, Caiño, Brancellao, Sousón, ...) possess a strong personality which makes them incomparable to any other wine. Drinking a good wine from Ourense, such as it was referred to Alfonso X el Sabio (The Wise), is like drinking a little bit of history, tradition and even legend of a mysterious, captivating and poetic Galician. | ![]() Production Area |
| Over the last few years the Ribeiro wines have undergone a noticeable improvement in its quality and presentation, given that they enter the market clean and transparent, and area able to reach an elite position and undoubtedly are associated with the most famous Galician ones.
The Ribeiro wines are included in the "Appellation of Origin", as its origin and quality are supported by a Regulating Board that was set up in 1957. As is customary, this Board monitors all the stages of the production process, giving its support to the product only if it fulfills the demanding conditions and if it passes through the organoleptic exam set by a quality control committee. Indeed, the freshness and lightness of the Ribeiro wines are best suited to certain foods. So, the white ones go with fish and shellfish and the red ones with light and cooked meats. However, for those who take no notice of traditional bonds between wine and food, we can recommend them purely for social encounters, as its sensitive flavours and delicate and subtle bouquet will make for an unforgettable evening. Ribeiro, the fruit of your history. |
